On 22nd April, five runners will take on the ultimate challenge to raise money for Deafblind UK…the Virgin London Marathon.
We spoke to Marketing Executive Charlotte from Peterborough about her motivations and fundraising plans…
What do you enjoy doing away from work?
“Apart from running, I love socialising with friends, spending quality time with my children, taking my son roller skating and doing arts and crafts with my daughter.”
What made you want to run the London Marathon?
“After I completed my first half-marathon I set myself a goal of running a marathon before I was 40. Having just turned 37, I feel this is my time!”
Why are you running for Deafblind UK?
“I worked for Deafblind UK 11 years ago and it’s a charity I hold close to my heart. I trained to become a Deafblind Communicator Guide and through doing this I became very close to a number of members. I have seen first hand how important the work everyone does is to these people.”
What motivates you to train?
“I can’t describe the buzz you get after a good run. There’s no other feeling like it and trying to better myself each time I run is what drives me to train harder, faster and further.”
How are you planning to fundraise?
“Mainly through work activities including, dress down days; cooking and selling lunch for colleagues; a raffle at our work ball in February; money pots in various locations and attending point 2 point racing with collection buckets.”
