Looking for a worthwhile but flexible volunteering opportunity to fit seamlessly into your life? There are loads of ways that you can make a difference this summer with our Reach Out campaign!
Your summer plans might have changed, but you can still make the most of your spare time!
Our opportunities are the ideal way to fill your time during lockdown, with working from home opportunities available. Volunteering with us can work around any other commitments that you already have. You don’t need any experience to work with us, just some time and an eagerness to help others. So many people have found lockdown mentally challenging, but having something positive to focus on can improve your outlook on life whilst also boosting the morale of others.
In the time that it takes you to make a cup of tea, you could have written an email that makes someone’s day!
From sending an e-mail or making a phone call as a befriender - to getting involved with innovative fundraising activities, there really is something for everyone. Anything you do (no matter how small) is invaluable in helping people who are deafblind, across the UK.
Why volunteer for us?
This is a great chance to develop your personal skills: Organisation, confidence and communication to list a few. These skills are an ideal addition to any CV and can be transferred into many lines of work, helping you to stand out to a prospective employer.
You’ll also meet like-minded people who enjoy helping others as everyone here at Deafblind UK is super friendly!
You may not know much or anything at all about being deafblind but don’t let that put you off! You'll get some basic training and you’ll learn more along the way. You will have our full support and opportunities to ask questions at any time.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help us with:
This involves calling, emailing or texting someone who is deafblind to give them some social interaction on a regular basis. This is a great opportunity to build a rewarding friendship and you can put as much time in as you want.
There are lots of different fundraising activities to get involved in, depending on your interests, experience and skills. For example, over the past few months, our volunteers have helped collect money at football matches, gone door-to-door with Santa and sold raffle tickets at a ten-pin bowling event!
If you live around Peterborough, then why not join us in our Werrington shop? You will gain experience in customer service, sales, visual merchandising and handling stock, as well as becoming a part of a team.
... and much more! Get in touch to discover the right role for you.
Reach Out today, and make the most of your summer!
