At Deafblind UK we dream of a world where people with combined sight and hearing loss can live the life they want. With your help we can make our dream a reality!
We rely on our generous supporters to help us make a difference to deafblind people. It is estimated there are nearly 400,000 people living with dual sensory loss in the UK, so we have our work cut out! But every pound we raise brings us a step closer to those who really need us.
Why support us?
For the past 90 years, we have been providing vital support to people who are deafblind, helping them to live the life they want. We help people to build their confidence and independence; continuing their lives beyond sight and hearing loss. We are here every step of the way to reassure, advise or just to be someone to turn to if there is no one else.
It costs us £35,000 every single week to do the life changing work that we do.
£10 could fund an hour of telephone support for a member or their family, providing information, advice or just a friendly ear
£20 could pay for our one of our Digital Inclusion Officers to visit a member to help them access technology, keeping them in touch with friends, family and the world
£30 could pay for a member to enjoy a day out with a volunteer, helping them to regain their confidence and independence
£60 could pay for training in deafblind communication for a new volunteer, allowing them to really connect with our members
£360 could pay for finding and training specialist volunteers for 20 members, helping them to continue to live the lives they choose
£5,000 could fund our life-changing work for one day
£35,000 could fund a whole week of our services
“I now have Deafblind UK and others around me who understand sight loss and know exactly what I’m talking about... A massive part of it has been the emotional support, someone to share with and understand what I am going through. It has given me hope for the future and raised my spirits… To know there is practical and social support out there makes all the difference and makes me believe that a fulfilling future is possible.”
