We employ full and part time staff in a variety of roles and in areas such as support workers, assistant service managers and service managers. Types of roles:

Support Worker

Our support workers assist our customers in maintaining an independent lifestyle. As a support worker you will broaden our customers’ experiences and enable them to make meaningful choices which in turn will help to reduce isolation and improve their access to information, communication and mobility. Our support workers provide aid in all aspects of daily living, including personal care.

Service Manager

Our service managers are responsible for delivering high quality support to our customers and managing a team of support workers within a designated geographical area. Our service managers are experienced in delivering health and social care support and, ideally will already have some people management experience. An NVQ3 in care or equivalent is essential for this role.

Learning and Development

We are fully committed to supporting learning and development for all our staff. We understand how important it is to receive the right training and we commit to investing in our employees to ensure that we deliver the very best. All staff take part in a three day corporate induction held at our head office, which includes our communication and guiding awareness course. In addition to this all staff receive one to one training through various learning and development opportunities. Where relevant, we will support employees to achieve nationally accredited qualifications.

We provide job specific learning and development opportunities for all support workers. These include:
– Supporting you to complete the Care Certificate within your first few weeks of employment
– Providing the opportunity to attain a level two qualification in Health and Social Care
– Continually updating your skills and knowledge for your career in care
– Providing the opportunity to take other appropriate qualifications relevant to your role

Safeguarding and Employment Checks

Ensuring the safety of our customers is of paramount importance and so we carry out thorough checks on all our staff. All employment at The Deafblind UK Group is offered subject to satisfactory checks including previous employer references. Staff who have direct contact with our customers will be required to have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (if applicable).

Supporting Employees who have a Disability

Many of our employees use Access to Work funding (through Job Centre Plus) to support them in their role. Access to Work funding can provide a wide range of support to those who require it. We work very closely with our staff to ensure they get the right support to successfully carry out their job. Your Learning and Development

We are fully committed to supporting learning and career development. We understand the importance of providing the right training and investing in our staff to ensure that we continue to deliver the very best in care and support.

We provide job specific learning and development opportunities to support you in your role.  These include:

  • Supporting you to complete the nationally recognised, Skills for Care, Common Induction Standards during your first 13 weeks of employment
  • Training to use the communication and guiding skills required to become a skilled Support Worker within sensory loss
  • Providing the opportunity to complete a Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care (Support Workers) within 18 months of joining us
  • Continually updating your skills and knowledge
  • Talking to you about career development and promotion opportunities, including a  Level 3 qualification (where relevant)
  • Providing the opportunity to take other appropriate qualifications relevant to your role such as management training

First of all, congratulations, you are one step closer to joining our team! After the closing date, our recruitment team will review your application and get back to you within five working days. If your application has been successful, you will be invited to meet us for an interview.

Interview and Assessment

If we think we’d like to hear more about you, we will invite you for an interview which will usually take place in the area that the job will be in, or at our head office in Peterborough.

For some roles, we will invite successful interviewees back for a second interview and we may ask you to do a short piece of work to give you the opportunity to show off your skills!
