Christmas 2019

Give the gift of confidence this Christmas

For so many people, deafblindness takes more than sight and hearing, it takes their confidence too.

Linda is deafblind, she was robbed of her sight in her early 20’s and has been hard of hearing ever since. Now in her 50’s, this cruel condition has drained her of her confidence, forced her to leave a job that she loved and trapped her in a world of anxiety. She had distanced herself from other people because she was tired of having to explain her disability.

Like so many others, Linda was stuck in her own home, locked in by her own mind and the worry about what other people would think. The dread of facing public transport alone and the fear of not knowing where she is or how to get home was too much to deal with. A former catering manager, this was a far cry from the life she used to lead.

This Christmas, we want to help more deafblind people to rebuild the confidence that they once had.

Can you help us to:

  • Send each person that we support a Christmas card in an accessible format
  • Call them at least three times during the year
  • Send them our quarterly magazine; the only one written specifically for people who are deafblind.
