Deafblind UK is proudly on the board of Deafblind International (DbI) as CEO Nikki Morris becomes a Board member of the international organisation.
“Deafblindness is not limited to this country and so it’s vital that we learn from other cultures and communities to develop our understanding and support provision. We are extremely proud to be appointed to the Board and look forward to working more closely with other international partners in this specialist collaboration.” Said Nikki.
Deafblind International (DbI) is a non-profit membership organisation that aims to bring together individuals, organisations, professionals and researchers who are interested in deafblindness. They connect to make a real difference in the lives of people with deafblindness around the world – they ‘Connect to Act’. DbI includes 17 thematically or geographically focussed networks.
Mirko Baur, President of DbI said: “Deafblind International is the point of connection in deafblindness worldwide, in close collaboration with the World Federation of the Deafblind (WFDB). We connect to maximize positive impact with and for all those concerned and involved. To have Deafblind UK in our worldwide network and Nikki Morris on our Board is indeed a wonderful next step forward on our journey. Together we can achieve so much more.”
This isn’t our first involvement with DbI. Liz Duncan, Deafblind UK’s Learning Research and Assessment Lead co-chairs DbI’s Acquired Deafblindness Network (ADBN) alongside our Ambassador, Dr Peter Simcock and researcher Femke Krijger.
