Deafblind UK and Caterpillar Peterborough facility forge new charity collaboration to empower the Deafblind Community

Employees of Caterpillar Inc Peterborough facility

Deafblind UK is proud to announce a new two-year charity collaboration with Caterpillar’s Peterborough facility, marking the beginning of a relationship aimed at transforming the lives of people living with dual sensory loss.

Through this collaboration, Caterpillar employees will provide vital fundraising, volunteering, and awareness-raising support to help Deafblind UK continue its mission of ensuring that those with combined sight and hearing loss can live the life they want. Over the next two years, employees across Caterpillar’s largest UK site in Peterborough will engage in a range of initiatives—from fundraising events and skill-based volunteering to sensory awareness training—all designed to make a meaningful impact on the lives of deafblind individuals.

Robert Grew, Fundraising Development Manager at Deafblind UK, said:
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Caterpillar in Peterborough. This multi-year collaboration will not only raise much-needed funds to support the charity’s ongoing work but also foster a greater understanding of deafblindness within the workplace and beyond. It’s through working together with businesses like Caterpillar that we can break down barriers for the deafblind community and build a more inclusive and equitable society, so we’re extremely thankful for their kind support.”

David Goldspink, Vice President and General Manager at the Peterborough site, echoes this enthusiasm:
“We are delighted that our employees have selected Deafblind UK as one of our new charity partners. We take pride in actively contributing to our community, fostering growth, delivering improved outcomes and building enduring relationships. We look forward to collaborating with Deafblind UK to make a positive impact in our community and are excited to commence our collaboration, by supporting their Rainbow Run in September.”

The collaboration has hit the ground running, with Caterpillar staff organising a number of fundraising initiatives already, including a site-wide centennial raffle in celebration of the company’s 100th year; a fitting parallel as Deafblind UK build towards its own centenary in 2028.

By joining forces, Deafblind UK and Caterpillar aim to achieve lasting social impact for the Deafblind community and raise much-needed awareness of the support available for individuals affected by sight and hearing loss.
