Items we can and cannot accept

We are grateful for all donations received, no matter how large or small. We can accept the following donations to our shops:

  • Mens, women's and children's clothes and accessories
  • Homeware/bric-a-brac
  • Books and DVDs
  • Games
  • Toys
  • Small furniture
  • Small electronics

More unusual items such as sports equipment, musical instruments and home furnishings are also welcomed. Some items, such as bicycles, furniture that has fire safety labels and mobile phones may also be accepted depending on their condition, but it's best to call ahead first.

Unfortunately, for health and safety reasons we are unable to accept the following:

  • Identifiable school uniforms
  • Car seats
  • Mattresses
  • Soft toys without the CE label
  • Used pillows and duvets
  • Furniture without fire safety labels
  • Electric blankets
  • Sunbeds and tanning equipment
  • Waste disposal units
  • Used earrings/piercings
  • Knives
  • Safety helmets/Safety harnesses
  • Cycle helmets
  • Life jackets/Buoyancy aids
  • Used paint
  • Any COSHH items

It avoids us paying expensive waste disposal costs if all your donations can be handed to a member of staff at the drop off points mentioned above, rather than left outside our shops. Please also consider the quality of all your donations... if an item is in a condition you would happily buy yourself we would love to have it, otherwise please dispose of it another way. Thank you!

Gift Aid your donated items!

Did you know, you can boost the value of your donations by 25% at no cost to you?

Gift Aid is one of the easiest ways that you can support Deafblind UK – and it doesn’t cost you anything! It is a Government scheme that allows us to claim an additional 25p for every £1 that you donate.

To help us take advantage of Gift Aid, we will ask you for some personal details when you bring your donations in. This information will only be used to claim Gift Aid and we will not share your data with anyone else.
