Life-changing support for people living with deafblindness
Grant making organisations are crucial in helping Deafblind UK to deliver day-to-day services, and tailored programmes of support and research, for people living with deafblindness. The funding we receive from Trusts and Foundations plays an enormous role in enabling us to help people living with sight and hearing loss across the UK. Whatever the size of your organisation, large or small, your support can help us to make a BIG difference!
Thanks to generous support from Trusts and Foundations we have:
- Opened our Deafblind UK Centre for Education and Research at Birmingham City University (BCU), thanks to a funder who wishes to remain anonymous.
- Launched an Employability Programme across London, with thanks to the Julia Rausing Trust and the City Bridge Foundation.
- Placed 1,671 resource packs in schools and supported children with deafblindness across the UK, thanks to the ScottishPower Foundation.
- Supported deafblind people across Wales and Northern Ireland to access information and support, with thanks to the NI and Wales Lottery Community Funds.
- Provided a newly updated and fully accessible caravan for deafblind people and their families to enjoy a break in a safe and secure setting, with thanks to The Coward Endowment.
Current funding opportunities
Wellbeing & Emotional Support
Forming the cornerstone of our services, our Wellbeing & Emotional Support services include practical and emotional support, information and advice, help with technology and affordable holidays in our accessible caravan in Norfolk.
Education & Employment Programmes
Our Education Programme continues to ensure that young people with deafblindness receive support in schools, colleges and universities, while working to increase awareness and understanding within educational establishments. Through our Employability Programme we develop knowledge and skills, helping deafblind people of all ages into work.
Deafblind UK Usher Service
Through this service we provide specialist provision to those affected by Usher syndrome, on a national scale. The service includes access to our Usher Syndrome Helpline, advocacy support as well as signposting to sources of information and entitlements.
Research & Partnerships
Our research is focussed on improving understanding of deafblindness, and the development of appropriate support. The Deafblind UK Centre for Education and Research at BCU is the UK’s only academic hub that focuses solely on deafblindness. Our work at BCU is focussed on psycho-social research and we are now looking for opportunities to help us fund a three-year research partnership with UCL and Moorfields Eye Hospital, to support a clinical research programme.
Support us
At Deafblind UK, we work tirelessly to ensure the support services that we provide make a lasting difference. We are fortunate in having a cohort of loyal and generous Trusts and Foundations who support our work, a number of them for many years. However, the prevalence of deafblindness is growing at an alarming rate, and with that so is the demand for our services. We need additional support more than ever before. You can donate in the following ways:
Bank transfer
If you would like to make a donation by bank transfer, please do get in touch using the email address below and we will send you our bank details. Please use the name of your Trust or Foundation as the reference, so that we know who the donation is from, and so that we can say thank you!

A final thank you
We are incredibly grateful to all of the wonderful Trusts and Foundations who support our work, no matter the donation size. Quite simply, it is your support that allows us to continue to deliver our life-changing services, and we couldn’t do it without you.
