Gifts in wills

Free will writing month

Ensure the people and causes you care about are provided for.

This September and October, we’ve made it even easier for you to write or update your will and tick this important task off your to-do-list. We’ve partnered with expert estate planners, Octopus Legacy, so you can write or update your will for free.

How is it free? The cost of your will is covered by us, the charity Deafblind UK, up to £150 – meaning you can write a simple will for free or get a more complex will or will with trust at a discounted rate.

We hope that by using our free will writing service you will consider remembering Deafblind UK in your will too, and your gift will help us continue to improve the lives of deafblind people for years to come.

Find out how you can start your will online, over the phone or in person today.

Your gift can create a brighter future

Thank you for considering leaving a gift in your will to Deafblind UK. Your gift could make a real difference to people living with deafblindness; it could bring human connection through our specialist social groups, it could rekindle a sense of independence through assistive technologies, or it could keep our helpline open so we can be there for anyone who finds themselves in crisis.

Jean's story

“It has totally changed my life... I’ve got someone else to talk to and someone else to think about”

How you can change lives

Deafblindness affects 1 in every 150 people in the UK. By 2035 it is estimated that over 600,000 people will be living with combined sight and hearing loss. Your gift in your will, no matter how big or small, will allow us to continue to support people with deafblindness in the years to come.

A gift of £260 could ensure a deafblind member receives regular contact from our befriending service for a full year.

A gift of £3,000 could allow 150 people to receive the Braille version of Open Hand for a year – a magazine written and designed especially for people who are deafblind.

A residuary gift of 2% could fund life-changing assistive technology and technical support, allowing people with dual sensory loss to reconnect with their family and the world around them.

A residuary gift of 5% could cover the cost of a trained helpline operator for a year – providing a vital lifeline for our members when they need it most, or simply a listening ear when they are feeling lonely.
