With shorter days and darker evenings, living with deafblindness through winter can feel isolating and lonely.
Our Winter Wellness programme gives you some extra support to help you stay healthy and connected through the winter months.
This service is available to anyone affected by sight and hearing loss, and their families and carers. It runs from 28th October 2024 to 28th February 2025 and includes:
- Extended helpline hours: Our helpline will be open between 9am and 7pm Monday to Thursday, and until 6pm on a Friday. If you’re feeling lonely, or isolated in the dark evenings then please do contact our team for a good old chat to lift your spirits.
- Holiday support: Our helpline will open on weekdays between Christmas and New Year, to make sure you have someone to contact throughout the festive season.
- Additional telephone and video groups: Don’t let night blindness stop you socialising, join us for some fun festive activities and quizzes via phone and video calls.
- Christmas Day and Boxing Day calls: If you find yourself alone and would like a call from our friendly team on Christmas Day or Boxing Day, please let us know by 20th December.
- Informative factsheets: Our downloadable resources include tips on how to manage sight and hearing loss during winter, helping you stay active and ideas to keep you entertained throughout the season.
- Winter Befrienders: Have a weekly chat with a volunteer befriender to give you some extra social interaction from the comfort of your own home.
If you or a loved one is affected by deafblindness, our Winter Wellness service can support you. Stay connected with your community and keep your spirits high throughout the winter months.
