Each year, dozens of runners, swimmers and walkers take on challenges across the country to raise thousands of pounds for Deafblind UK. We need your help to give them a big cheer from the roadside on race day!
What we’d like you to do
Cheering, waving, clapping, singing, sign making, drumming and dancing at our Deafblind UK cheer points to encourage our Team Deafblind UK participants and raise awareness of the charity. Bring all the energy!- Meeting participants’ family members and friends who join us to cheer. This may include speaking with them about their experiences of deafblindness and why their loved one is taking on their challenge for Deafblind UK.
- Chatting and getting to know other volunteers, being a friendly and welcoming member of the team.
- Helping to track and spot Team Deafblind UK runners in crowds of people and give them an extra loud cheer.
Please note: You may be standing for several hours at a time whilst cheering, so please bear this in mind before applying. You must also be over 18 to apply for this role.
How you will be supported
We will have a team briefing a couple of weeks before the event to chat through on the day activities, providing maps, timings and an emergency contact number. There will also be a WhatsApp group chat so you can chat with other volunteers about the day. We will post you a Deafblind UK branded t-shirt and cheer sticks before the event.
