London Marathon 2025 – meet our runners!

The countdown is on! The TCS London Marathon 2025 is fast approaching, and our incredible #TeamDeafblindUK runners are lacing up their trainers and getting ready to go the distance. Let’s meet the team…
George
George isn’t just running; he’s racing to say thanks. Back in 2016, he became a befriender with Deafblind UK and met Ron, a friendship that has taken them on adventures, including a skydiving trip to Hawaii! George wants to show appreciation for the charity that brought them together and continues to support so many.
Robert
A seasoned runner and fitness enthusiast, Robert is sprinting towards his goal of giving back to a charity that has supported him for years. He’s been drumming up donations by spreading the word at his gym and local train station.
James
Having lived with hearing difficulties all his life and undergoing multiple surgeries, James knows firsthand the challenges that come with hearing loss. He’s running to show that it’s determination, not hearing impairments, that define you!
Ben
Ben’s journey has been anything but a smooth jog. With a family history of retinitis pigmentosa and his own battle with cancer (thankfully in recovery!), he’s pushing forward with a mission to support others facing sight loss. As a volunteer for Be My Eyes, he’s always looking out for others and can’t wait to take on this huge challenge!
Warren
Warren’s race is in honour of his dear friend and colleague Steve, who lost his battle with MND last year. Steve once told him he’d run the London Marathon one day, so Warren is doing it for both of them. Though Steve won’t be there in person, Warren knows he’ll be right beside him every step of the way.
Tim
For Tim, this marathon isn’t just about the miles, it’s about raising awareness for a charity close to his late father’s heart. He wants more people to know about Deafblind UK’s incredible work, and he’s determined to go the extra mile (or 26.2) to make that happen.
Zoe and Maisie
Zoe is running to honour her deaf in-laws, who raised four children despite the challenges they faced. She’s even learning BSL to help spread awareness. Running alongside her is Maisie, carrying on a family marathon-running tradition that spans generations. Together, they’re proving that support and determination run in the family!

Lewis
Having experienced his own eyesight challenges, Lewis understands the struggles that many members of Deafblind UK face. Running the London Marathon has always been a dream of his, and now he’s making it happen while supporting a cause that means so much to him.
Virat
Virat believes that everyone deserves the right to live independently, no matter their challenges. He’s pounding the pavement to raise awareness and funds for people living with dual sensory loss, ensuring they have access to the support they need to lead fulfilling lives.
The London Marathon is the world’s most popular race, and last year alone, it raised an incredible £73.5 million for charity. This year, #TeamDeafblindUK is taking up the baton to help us continue our mission of supporting people with sight and hearing loss. To our runners: we’re behind you every step of the way! To our supporters: your donations mean the world. Together, we’re making strides toward a more inclusive future.
See you at the finish line!
