William Ogden BEM is Director of Operations at Decibels, a Deaf-led national charity working to improve arts and cultural access for deaf, deafblind, deafened, and hard of hearing people. His career began at Kingston University, where he spent a decade supporting over 300+ students with a focus on wellbeing, disability, and access requirements, and was recognised with an “Outstanding Contribution To The Student Experience” voted by the students both in 2022 and 2023.

Having left Higher Education in 2025, William has shifted towards the charity sector, and brings extensive experience in leadership, governance and public service, informed by his lived experience as a deaf and partially sighted person. He became a Trustee for Citizens Advice Rushmoor, where he chairs the Service and Quality Committee, contributing to strong governance, inclusion and community impact. In 2022, he was awarded the British Empire Medal for his contributions to accessibility and education, and has consulted with various institutions including the Houses of Parliament, the BBC, and The Sunday Times. Outside of work, he is a keen gig and festival goer who performs as a DJ and drummer, and shares his love of music by volunteering on a local radio station.
